Note: International students can enjoy the added benefit of learning to fly without the concern of landing fees. Unlike many European aviation schools, where landing fees can range from $15 to $17 per landing, Leading Edge eliminates this financial barrier, ensuring a cost-effective and supportive learning environment for all our students

    Private Pilot Certificate

    If you’re interested in flying your own aircraft and carrying private passengers like friends and family, our private pilot certification is perfect. This course from Leading Edge Flight Training includes:

    A minimum of 40 hours of flight training (plan on an average of 55 hours) including cross-country navigation

    Solo flight time

    Night operations

    A 60 question written exam

    A practical test with an FAA examiner, also called a "Checkride"

    Commercial Certificate

    For aviators who are looking to join the commercial flight industry and possibly pilot a passenger airplane, then the commercial pilot certification is perfect. This course from Leading Edge Flight Training includes:

    20 to 30 hours of Commercial Training

    Special emphasis on smooth flight and passenger comfort

    Demonstrating knowledge of emergency procedures

    Demonstrating a more in-depth knowledge of regulations

    At least 250 hours of total logged time

    A 100 question written exam

    A practical examination with an FAA examiner

    Certified Flight Instructor — Instrument

    Instrument Rating

    The instrument rating course from Leading Edge Flight Training allows pilots in Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming to learn how to navigate flying an aircraft accurately through reference to instructions. Participants can expect:

    50 hours of Cross Country as PIC

    40 to 50 hours of instrument flight, 15 of which must be with a CFII

    Air traffic control routing

    Instrument approach procedures

    Simulated instrument failures

    A 60 question written examination and checkride with an FAA examiner

    Instructor Certificate

    If your dream is to teach others how to fly an aircraft, and maybe even join the Leading Edge Flight Training instructor team, then taking the flight instructor certification course is the first step. Pilots must:

    Already possess a Commercial Certificate

    Complete 15 to 25 flight hours

    Complete 20 to 40 hours of ground school

    Practice maneuvers from the right seat

    Pass a 50 question Fundamentals of Instruction written exam

    Pass a 100 question Flight Instructor Airplane written exam

    Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI)
