Flight Instructor (CFI)

Leading Edge Flight Training is a flight school in Northern Colorado locally owned and operated along the beautiful foothills of the Rocky Mountains. We are a Part 61 flight school that offers flight instruction, accelerated training, recurrent training, an in-house maintenance team, and other pilot services. Requirements

  • Must hold a Certified Flight Instructor Certificate (We will accept applications from candidates within 3 months of obtaining their CFI)

  • Must hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate

  • Must hold a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Class FAA Medical or Basic Med.

  • Must be able to reliably commute to our office in Loveland, Colorado

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening

  • Have no accidents or incidents on record

  • Must meet the height and weight mission requirements for the DA-20-C1.

  • Must be available 4 days a week (assigned once on property and subject to change) between the hours of 7am - 5pm. 

  • Must be available during select evenings and nights as required to complete nighttime training requirements for students.

  • Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Flight and Ground Training

  • Ramp duties to include but not limited to

    • Moving aircraft by hand without assistance

    • Securing aircraft

    • Clearing the ramp of debris

  • Answer student phone calls

  • Respond to student emails

  • Talk to walk-in customers

  • Aid in syllabus development

  • Maintaining a clean working environment

  • Assist co-workers in continuing our mission of creating the best flight school the country

Travel

Overnight flights may be required.

Commission: $22 per billed hour of instruction.

Benefits: Instructors are classified as commission based employees. This provides you with certain benefits over being classified as a contractor.

  • In addition to these benefits instructors are given a discount on aircraft rental and instruction for personal and recreational use, or if they would like to pursue further certifications, ratings, and or endorsements with us.

Schedule: Instructors are given a schedule of four 10 hour blocks per week from 7am - 5pm. This schedule typically results with instructors billing between 85 and 120 hours per month. Instructors are allowed to schedule training outside of this time with certain conditions to accommodate student training needs. We know instructors are happy when they are busy, we do our best to keep you busy while maintaining the highest standard of safety, quality of training, and adequate rest.
